Industrial graphite is a natural porous carbon material. Even high-density pressed graphite blanks will form a certain number of open pores and micro gaps during batching, pressing and high-temperature graphitization. These tiny pore structures are the main structural defects restricting graphite's service performance: molten metal and glass liquid can penetrate into the pores at high temperature, causing internal corrosion and structural loosening; corrosive gas and moisture can accumulate in the pores, accelerating product aging and failure; loose pore structure will reduce graphite's compactness and mechanical strength, affecting dimensional stability in long-term cyclic use. Impregnation technology is the most effective technical means to solve the inherent pore defects of graphite.

The core principle of graphite impregnation technology is to use high-temperature and high-pressure equipment to infiltrate liquid functional impregnants into the open pore channels of graphite, and fix the impregnants inside the pores through secondary carbonization and curing treatment, so as to convert open pores into closed pores, completely block internal pore gaps, and realize overall performance upgrading of graphite products. The entire impregnation process includes pre-treatment drying, high-pressure infiltration, constant-temperature curing and secondary high-temperature carbonization, and each process parameter directly determines the final impregnation effect and product performance.

Pitch impregnation is the most mainstream and cost-effective basic impregnation process in the industry. Medium-temperature coal pitch is used as the impregnant, which has good fluidity at high temperature and can fully penetrate into tiny graphite pores. After secondary carbonization, the pitch is converted into dense carbon matrix, which greatly reduces the open porosity of graphite, improves product density and high-temperature structural stability. Pitch-impregnated graphite has excellent resistance to high-temperature molten medium penetration, and is widely used in non-ferrous metal smelting crucibles, industrial furnace structural parts and conventional high-temperature processing molds. Its disadvantage is poor anti-acid and anti-alkali corrosion performance, which is not suitable for chemical corrosive environments.

Resin impregnation is a high-precision anti-corrosion impregnation technology, using high-purity phenolic resin and epoxy resin as impregnants. The cured resin forms a dense inert protective layer inside graphite pores and on the surface, which has excellent resistance to acid, alkali and organic solvent corrosion. Resin-impregnated graphite has smooth surface, zero dust shedding and good dimensional stability, and is suitable for chemical anti-corrosion equipment, precision electronic processing fixtures and dust-free industrial parts. However, resin materials are easy to age and decompose at ultra-high temperatures above 1000℃, so they cannot be used in long-term ultra-high-temperature working conditions.

Composite impregnation technology is an upgraded high-end process developed in recent years, which combines the advantages of pitch impregnation and resin impregnation. Through segmented double impregnation treatment of pitch bottom filling and resin surface sealing, the graphite product not only has high-temperature resistance and structural stability, but also has excellent anti-corrosion and dust-free performance, breaking through the performance limitations of single impregnation process. Composite impregnated graphite is the preferred material for high-end integrated industrial equipment with complex working conditions of high temperature and corrosion.

Jincheng Graphite has deeply optimized the traditional graphite impregnation process and formed a mature differentiated impregnation technical system. Aiming at the problem of incomplete pore filling in traditional single impregnation, the company adopts multi-cycle segmented impregnation technology, gradually increasing impregnation pressure and temperature according to graphite pore size distribution, realizing full filling of micro-pores and large pores, and reducing graphite open porosity to below 0.8%, reaching the international ultra-dense graphite standard.

Precious Metal Melting Graphite Crucible

For different industrial scenarios, Jincheng Graphite implements targeted impregnation process matching: pitch deep impregnation is adopted for metallurgical and glass high-temperature scenarios to improve molten medium anti-penetration performance; high-purity resin impregnation is applied for chemical and dust-free precision scenarios to enhance anti-corrosion and anti-pollution capabilities; composite double impregnation is customized for complex extreme working conditions to achieve comprehensive performance upgrading.

All impregnated graphite products of Jincheng Graphite undergo strict post-impregnation performance testing, including porosity detection, corrosion resistance simulation test and high-temperature stability test, and are equipped with complete English version process reports and performance certification. The optimized impregnation technology effectively prolongs the service life of graphite components by more than 50%, and significantly improves product stability and qualification rate, providing high-reliability material solutions for global industrial high-temperature and anti-corrosion scenarios.
