On July 27, 2026, the US Department of Commerce officially announced the preliminary results of the double anti-investigation on large-diameter graphite electrodes. The investigation was launched on March 17, targeting large-size graphite electrode products used in steelmaking and metallurgical electric furnaces imported from China and India. The preliminary ruling determined that the involved products have dumping and subsidization behaviors, and will impose punitive tariff measures in the subsequent final ruling stage. This policy will directly restrict the export of low and medium-end large-diameter graphite electrode products to the US market, and trigger a major reshuffle of the global metallurgical graphite trade pattern.

Graphite electrode is the core consumable of steelmaking electric furnace and non-ferrous metal smelting. For a long time, Chinese and Indian products have occupied more than 70% of the US imported graphite electrode market by virtue of cost advantages. The US local graphite electrode manufacturing capacity is insufficient, and the product cost is high and the delivery cycle is long, which cannot meet the demand of local metallurgical enterprises. The launch of the double anti-investigation is essentially a trade protection measure for the US local carbon material industry, aiming to restrict the import of low-cost foreign products and force downstream metallurgical enterprises to purchase high-priced local products.

Affected by the US trade policy, the export of low-end standardized graphite electrode products is facing severe pressure, but high-end customized metallurgical graphite components are not included in the investigation scope, forming an obvious market structural differentiation. High-precision anti-corrosion graphite anode plates for rare earth smelting, customized electrolytic cell lining graphite bricks, high-purity melting graphite crucibles and other customized deep-processing products are still in short supply in the US, European and Southeast Asian markets, and are not restricted by the double anti-policy. This makes high-end customized metallurgical graphite components the core growth track of China's graphite export in 2026.

Global metallurgical industry data shows that metallurgical graphite consumables still account for 42% of the global graphite market share, maintaining the largest downstream application proportion of graphite products. With the recovery of the global steel industry and the expansion of non-ferrous metal smelting capacity in Southeast Asia, the overall demand for metallurgical graphite remains stable. The industry competition is shifting from low-price standardized product competition to high-performance, customized and anti-corrosion high-value product competition. Enterprises that rely on low-end electrode export will face elimination, while professional deep-processing factories with customized service capabilities will gain more market shares.

Huixian Jincheng Abrasive & Graphite Mold Factory has accurately judged the changes in the global metallurgical graphite trade pattern, and actively adjusted its product structure in 2026, completely focusing on high-end customized metallurgical graphite component track to avoid trade risks. The company abandons the low-margin standardized graphite electrode business, and focuses on the R&D and production of anti-corrosion impregnated graphite anodes, electrolytic cell special-shaped graphite bricks, high-purity metal melting crucibles and customized conductive graphite structural parts for non-ferrous metal smelting.

Relying on 42 years of metallurgical graphite processing experience, Jincheng Graphite masters targeted anti-corrosion vacuum impregnation technology for fluoride and chloride molten salt environments, which can significantly improve the service life and corrosion resistance of metallurgical graphite components. All products are customized according to the actual process parameters of overseas smelting enterprises, with high matching degree and strong substitutability, and do not belong to the standardized products restricted by US trade policies. At present, the company's metallurgical graphite products are steadily exported to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe and other regions, successfully avoiding the US double anti-trade barriers.

In order to further expand the overseas metallurgical market, Jincheng Graphite has optimized international packaging, certification and logistics systems, and provided multi-language technical parameter documents and after-sales service guidance for overseas customers. In the context of global trade policy adjustment, the company relies on differentiated customized products and professional technical services to build core competitive advantages, and continues to stabilize the supply of high-quality metallurgical graphite supporting products for the global non-ferrous metal smelting industry.
